On June 5, 2021 Dr. Clement Gwede and Dr. Bobbie McKee represented CCRAB at the Florida Palliative Care Summit. The Florida Palliative Care Coalition’s goals are aligned with the 2020-2025 Florida Cancer Plan Goal #16: Achieve excellent quality of life for all Floridians with cancer and their caregivers from Day 1 of diagnosis, during treatment, and after treatment. Thank you to our state comprehensive cancer control program partners, Laura Morse and Ken Peach, for assisting with the CCRAB-led breakout session, as well as CCRAB members Senator Aaron Bean and Megan Wessel for participating in the Summit. - Florida Cancer Plan Revisions
During the Fall 2021 CCRAB meeting, the Council will take up revisions to the 2020-2025 Florida Cancer Plan in accordance with the annual process and guidelines approved by CCRAB in October 2020. There are two revisions for consideration and approval by CCRAB. These revisions update screening guidelines to reflect recent changes made by the USPSTF for Cancer Plan Goal #10: Reduce lung cancer mortality through early detection of lung cancer in Floridians and Goal #12: Reduce colorectal cancer mortality through early detection of colorectal cancer in Floridians. Please go to www.ccrab.org/cancer-plan-annual-revisions for additional information. - CCRAB Member Spotlight: Representative Linda Chaney
We are pleased to welcome Representative Linda Chaney as the House Speaker’s appointee on CCRAB. Representative Chaney was elected to the Florida House in 2020. She has a long history of public service as well as fighting cancer. Representative Chaney and her husband built a Mobile Mammography business, which helped to save hundreds of women’s lives through early detection of breast cancer. Over 20 years ago, she lost her husband to brain cancer, making her the sole provider and a single mother to her two-year-old son. Through faith, family and friends, she found the strength to continue to succeed, leading her to a life of servant leadership. We look forward to working with Representative Chaney. - Next CCRAB Meeting: Friday, September 17, 2021
The next CCRAB meeting will be held on Friday, September 17th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM via Zoom. Additional details and an agenda will be made available prior to the meeting.
